2013 photo of police and farmer circulated as recent on social media
Violent clashes between police and farmer took place on October 2, when protesting farmers marching from different states tried to enter Delhi. The farmers, who were marching under the banner of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), were stopped at the Delhi-UP border by the police with teargas shells and water cannons.
Kavita Krishnan, an activist and politburo member of CPI (Marxist-Leninist), tweeted a photo, on October 2, which showed a policeman brandishing a pistol against a brick-holding peasant and wrote: “… think again before you call a Kashmiri kid with a stone in his hand a terrorist.”
Look at the farmer with a brick in his hand, facing a cop with a gun.

If you don't think the farmer is a terrorist - and I hope you don't - if you empathise with his anger, I hope you'll think again before you call a Kashmiri kid with a stone in his hand a terrorist. pic.twitter.com/7Omxax3sWj
Krishnan’s tweet was furiously retweeted and “liked” by thousands of Twitter users.
On Facebook too, this image has been shared widely with the claim that an image was clicked during the farmer’s protest march in Delhi.
Actually, the photo is not of the October 2 farmers’ protest march. The photo was taken in 2013 in Meerut when villagers clashed with the police when local BJP MLA Sangeet Som was arrested for his involvement in the Muzaffarnagar riots. Alt News found that same photo was published by many newspapers, like Pioneer, Hindu, Indian Express.
