Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s #MeToo fake tweet goes viral

A tweeter handle called “Guru Ghantal” (@TheGuruGhantal) tweeted an image that looked like a screenshot of an Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s tweet which showed she was also a victim of abuse and coming out with her own #MeToo story. Immediately, the tweet went viral and many took it as a real tweet.

The text in the image read: “Yes I was abused, beaten and many times threatened in my previous toxic relationship. Bollywood’s biggest charity man who calls himself ‘human’ is not so human after all. #MeToo”

It seemed that Aishwarya was insinuating her former lover Salman Khan, who has popularized the term “Being Human” abused her when they were in a relationship.

The truth

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is not on Twitter. The screenshot that looked like a tweet from Aishwarya’s verified Twitter handle is obviously a work of counterfeiter who produced the image using a photo editor, probably with the intention to drag the high-profile celebrities’ names into the #MeToo campaign with mischievous intent.
