The head of Congress’s IT cell, Divya Spandana, posted clipped video of an old interview of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The video created a controversy on social media earlier as well. The clip was taken from an interview that Modi gave to Rajiv Shukla for his show Ru-Ba-Ru around 20 years ago, when he was the general secretary of the BJP.

The video is edited in such a way that it appears that Modi was telling Shukla that he studied only up to high school.

Divya Spandana shared the doctored video, on Monday, and tweeted in Hindi, which roughly translates as: “Found this video with great difficulty, it is a 1998 interview in which saheb himself is saying that I have studied till high school. But saheb has a graduation degree which he got in 1979.”

In the video, Modi is heard saying: “I am not a highly educated man, but I have a great interest in learning new things. At the age of seventeen I left my home right after finishing my school education. Since then, I have been wandering to find new things.”

However, the entire video presents a completely different picture.

The video is available in 5 parts on YouTube. It is in the fifth part Modi mentions about his education, where the edited clip was taken from. The edited clip ends when he mentions about his high school. But the complete video shows that immediately after talking about his high school, he talked of doing BA afterwards by distance education from Delhi University. He further said he completed his MA later.

Divya Spandana did not share the part of the video in which Modi talked about his BA and MA degree. She later realized her mistake and acknowledged that it was indeed a clipped version of the original video by posting an Alt News article but refrained from deleting her tweet.
