Rahul Gandhi.

Following China’s veto which blocked the United Nations security council’s move to brand Jaish-e-Muhammed chief Maulana Masood Azhar as a global terrorist, on Wednesday, the Congress president, Rahul Gandhi use the opportunity to attack the prime minister, Narendra Modi.

Gandhi, on Thursday, tweeted: “Weak Modi is scared of Xi. Not a word comes out of his mouth when China acts against India.” Then he went on to list Modi’s engagement with the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, insinuating that they proved to be failures.

China had been frustrating India’s efforts to get Azhar branded as a global terrorist at the behest of Pakistan – Beijing’s all-weather friend, which had been using jihadist outfits as strategic assets against India, Afghanistan and now Iran. This is the fourth time China has blocked India’s move to label Azhar as a UN-designated terrorist.
