After crushing defeat, Veerappa Moily says ‘JD(S) didn’t support me’

Senior Congress leader and former Union minister M Veerappa Moily, who contested from Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha constituency and lost, blamed the Janata Dal (Secular) for his defeat. The JD(S) is an ally of the Congress and they are running the Karnataka government as coalition partners.

While answering a question on a local channel, Moily, who was a member of the 16^th Lok Sabha from the same constituency, said, “Definitely, the JD(S) people did not support (me) … Depending on their vote was a wrong decision by for the Congress party.”

Moily, however, said the Congress and the JD(S) would continue to be allies despite being routed in the state by the BJP in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election.
