Ghalib Guru.

Afzal Guru’s son, Ghalib Guru, said he is proud to own an Aadhaar card and hopes that he will get an Indian passport to avail international medical scholarship.

Afzal Guru was executed in 2013 for his role in the deadly 2001 attack on Parliament. The Jaish-e-Muhammed suicide bomber who attacked a CRPF convoy in Pulwama, killing over 40 jawans, did so in Guru’s name.

Talking to a reporter, Ghalib said, “I appeal that I should get a passport. I also have an Aadhaar card. If I get a passport, I can avail international medical scholarship.”

The 18-year-old lives in Jammu & Kashmir’s Baramulla district with his mother Tabassum and maternal grandfather Ghulam Muhammad, was quick to insist that he must now have an Indian passport. “I will be a proud Indian citizen when I get my passport,” says Ghalib, while explaining how it will open doors for abroad for higher education.
