AK Antony says ‘Congress is not strong enough to bring down Narendra Modi from power single-handedly’

AK Antony, senior Congress leader and former defence minister, said the Congress party alone can’t take on the Bharatiya Janata Party in this year’s Lok Sabha election.

While interacting with his party workers in Thiruvananthapuram, on Friday, during the general body of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee, Antony said, “The Congress alone cannot bring down Narendra Modi from power. But still, Congress is the crucial force to lead the campaign to oust Modi from power. Hence, Congress is looking for a broader alliance to defeat the BJP.”

Antony also praised the Congress president, Rahul Gandhi, for being a strong leader to take on Modi. He has advised the state congress leaders that selection of candidates for election should be made in a democratic way and the decision has to come from district committees.
