Asaduddin Owaisi says Narendra Modi must immediately sack MJ Akbar
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Asaduddin Owaisi has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to dismiss MJ Akbar, the minister of state for external affairs, immediately as Akbar has been accused of sexual harassment by women coworkers from his journalism days.
Owaisi, on Wednesday said, “it would be constitutional responsibility of Modi to remove Akbar from the ministry immediately”. Owaisi described the media reports on Akbar’s sexual harassment as “horrible”.

Owaisi said: “In parliament, it is the same MJ Akbar who spoke about the safety of women during a discussion on ‘triple talaq’. I am aghast at the complaints of sexual harassment being made against him. This has been his background. Since these have come to light, he should be removed from the ministry immediately.” He further said, “Only when action is taken, it can be taken that there is a closure to the case. He cannot be allowed to go scot-free.”
