BJP’s Sambit Patra slams Rahul Gandhi over Priyanka Gandhi’s entry in politics

Bharatiya Janata Party spokesman Sambit Patra, while reacting to the appointment of Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra as the Congress general secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh, has criticized Rahul Gandhi for choosing family member as the party general secretary. 

He has further said that Rahul went for family alliance after facing rejection from other parties of the opposition mahagathbandhan (grand alliance).

He said, “The Congress has basically publicly announced that Rahul Gandhi has failed and needs crutches from within the family. Because of his rejection by grand alliance parties, he has opted for a family alliance.”

While referring to the succession line of the Congress leaders from Gandhi family, starting from Jawaharlal Nehru to Rahul Gandhi, Patra said, “All appointments are from one family. And this is the fundamental difference between the Congress and the BJP. In the Congress, the family is party. In the BJP, the party is family.”

Priyanka Gandhi, on Wednesday, has been appointed by the party as the Congress general secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh. JD(U) vice president Prashant Kishor, chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath and Maharashtra Congress president Ashok Chavan have appreciated the recent development.
