Amid the outrage over the killing of a Muslim over suspicion of being a cow smuggler in Rajasthan’s Alwar, T Raja Singh Lodh, the BJP MLA from Telangana’s Goshamahal, said, “Incidents of lynching will not stop till the time cow gets the status of ‘rashtramata (mother of nation)’.”

Lodh, in a video message on social media, on Sunday, said he does not want “khoon-kharaba” (bloodletting) on the issue, but if “it has to stop, cow must be declared the mother of the nation.”

He also added, “Till cow is not accorded the status of ‘rashtramata’, I feel the war for ‘gauraksha’ (cow protection) will not stop even if ‘gaurakshaks’ (cow protectors) are put into jails or bullets are fired at them.”

T Raja Singh Lodh is a well-known cow-protection activist and has been involved in cow vigilantism against cattle smugglers and those in the cow-meat business.
