Congress’s Sanjay Nirupam says Narendra Modi is ‘illiterate and uncivilized’
Sanjay Nirupam, senior Congress member from Maharashtra, on Wednesday, created a big controversy by his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Nirupam called Modi “anpadh ganvar” (roughly translated as illiterate and uncivilized).
Nirupam made the remark when he was criticizing the decision on screening of a short film – “Chalo Jeete Hain” – in Maharashtra schools by state government. The film is based on Modi’s life. Nirupam said, “What will the children studying in schools and colleges gain by learning about an ‘anpadh ganvar’ like Modi?”
When his remark kicked a row, Nirupam tried to defend himself and said, “It (India) is a democracy, the words I used were not undignified.”
His remark created a storm on social media too with pro- and anti-Modi users taking on each other and trading words.
Meanwhile, Anil Shirole, the BJP member of Parliament from Pune, tweeted that PM Modi is not a representative of any party, hence disrespecting him means to disrespect the nation.
PM is not a representative of one party, he is the Prime Minister of the Country and it's people. @sanjaynirupam by insulting our PM you has insulted and disrespected the office, the country and the constitution drafted by Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar ji. https://t.co/fLybvARGlc

At the same time BJP spokeswoman Shaina NC called Nirupam a “mental patient”.
Yet another abnoxious comment by a mentally deranged @sanjaynirupam . May be he forgets that @narendramodi is elected by 125 cr Indians who aren’t “unpad or gavar “. @INCIndia is devoid of ideology and relevant questions . Sure citizens will give a befitting reply in 2019 pic.twitter.com/KUXs9m0Q4z
