While speaking during the discussion of the Constitution Amendment Bill in Rajya Sabha, which seeks to enable 10 per cent quota for the “economically weaker section” of general class, Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien targeted the Narendra Modi government for unemployment in the country.

O’Brien, on Wednesday, said, “This bill is an acknowledgement of guilt (by the Modi government) for not creating enough jobs in the last four years.”

Taking a jibe on Prime Minister’s remark, in an interview last year, that even selling pakoda is gainful employment, O’Brien said, “The youth of the country is asking where are the jobs? You promised two crore jobs, instead, you are answering with ‘pakodanomics’.”

Continuing his attack against the government, O’Brien added, “The government has a problem of making promises and not fulfilling it … Startup India, Digital India … This new scheme is called ‘Cheat India’.”

The Union Cabinet approved the Constitution Amendment Bill, 2019 for 10 per cent quota for the economically backward class in the general category of citizens on Monday and the Lok Sabha passed the bill on Tuesday.
