Dinesh Sharma, Uttar Pradesh’s deputy chief minister, invites Rahul Gandhi to Kumbh Mela and to visit his grandfather’s grave

Dinesh Sharma, the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh sent an open invitation to the Congress president, Rahul Gandhi, to visit the Kumbh Mela, on Thursday, saying that he should “not only offer prayers for his forefathers” at the Kumbh, but should also “visit the grave of his grandfather Feroze Jehangir ‘Khan’ Gandhi”, adding a “Khan” in the name.

The UP-deputy CM, who was in Gujarat to invite the state’s chief minister, Vijay Rupani, and other ministers of the Gujarat government for the Kumbh, while talking to reporters said, “I want to invite honorable Rahul Gandhi Ji … whose gotra is probably Dattatreya … to come to Kumbh. Kumbh has a tradition where priests perform rites by changing the janeau (sacred thread) and making offerings to the forefathers … I request that he goes to the grave of his late grandfather honorable Feroz Jehangir Khan Gandhi sa’ab at Prayagraj.”

He further said, “Rahul has not visited it so far. I advise him to have a meal there and light a candle there.”
