Donald Trump says ultraviolet light inside body or injecting disinfectant can be tried to treat coronavirus
In a statement that shocked the world, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, said using ultraviolet light inside the body or injecting disinfectant can be tried to treat a patient infected with the new coronavirus, Covid-19.
Speaking at a White House coronavirus news briefing on Thursday, Trump said, “Supposing we hit the body with a tremendous – whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful – light.”
He then suggested the light can be beamed inside the body, “either “through the skin or some other way.”
Trump then mused the possibility of disinfectants as a Covid-19 treatment. Continuing his address, he said, “And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute – one minute – and is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that.”
However, Trump, on Friday, claimed that his suggestion cleaning products should be tested as a coronavirus treatment was a sarcastic comment intended to provoke reporters, insisting he knew disinfectants should only be used to sanitize skin.
“I was asking a question sarcastically to reporters like you just to see what would happen,” he said during a White House briefing.
