Government is ‘suppressing dissent’ on issues, P Chidambaram says
Former finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram termed the government’s actions in response to serious issues, such as the Rafale deal, falling markets and falling of the rupee against the US dollar, as attempts to “suppress dissent”.
The Congress has been accusing BJP-led government of benefiting Anil Ambani’s Reliance Defence from the Rafale deal.
In a tweet, Chidambaram wrote: “As Rafale deal unravels, markets fall, the rupee depreciates and interest rates rise, the response of the government is to suppress dissent.”
