Appearing before the court of additional chief metropolitan magistrate, Samar Vishal, in New Delhi, former minister of state for external affairs MJ Akbar, who was accused of sexual harassment by journalist Priya Ramani, said, “I was attacked in my personal capacity about alleged and fabricated non-events allegedly taken place two decades ago. I chose in that environment to seek justice in the personal capacity …”
Recording his evidence to support his defamation complaint against Ramani, on Wednesday, the veteran journalist-turned-politician termed the accusations as “false and defamatory” and said he offered his resignation to seek justice in his personal capacity.
He further said, “My reputation has been tarnished in the eyes of the general public and those who are near and dear known to me. I affirm that my complaint is correct and the allegations made against me by Priya Ramani are false and defamatory.”
