The Bahujan Samaj Party chief and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati, claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party has sensed its defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha election and the alliance between her party and Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party has made the BJP afraid and sleepless.

While referring to the claims made by the BJP president, Amit Shah, during a meeting of booth-level workers in Aligarh, in which he has attacked the alliance, Mayawati said, “The BSP-SP alliance has not only made the BJP’s top leadership sleepless, but also afraid. They are cursing it (the alliance) in all big and small programmes. We got to hear the same in the Aligarh programme, in which the alliance was termed a farce.”

She has also blamed the BJP government in the state for increasing casteism, political vendetta and communalism and claimed that people of Uttar Pradesh are aware about the current situation of the state. “Everyone is aware of how under the BJP-led central and Uttar Pradesh governments casteism, political vendetta and communalism have increased,” she said.
