Mehbooba Mufti says ‘J&K will not be a part of India if Article 35A is removed’

Responding to Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah’s statement that Article 35A granting special rights and privileges to the citizens of Jammu & Kashmir would be replaced by 2020, Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti, on Wednesday, said J&K “will not be a part of the country if the conditions on which it acceded to India are removed.”

Mufti said this soon after filing her nomination papers from the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat.

Mufti added the whole state will fight together to defend Article 370 of the Constitution and warned that the state’s relationship with the Centre will be over if Article 370 of the Constitution was revoked.
