MK Stalin.

After President Ram Nath Kovind, on Tuesday, cancelled the Lok Sabha election in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore constituency based on an Election Commission recommendation following a report on the use of money power to influence voters, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president MK Stalin called it “murder of democracy”.

Stalin said, “It is a murder of democracy and (Prime Miniser Narendra) Modi is using income tax, ED, CBI and now the Election Commission against opposition parties. I now accuse BJP candidate Tamilisai Soundararajan in Tuticorin of storing crores of money. Will the I-T or EC take any action or search her place?”

He further accused the Centre of threatening opposition parties as the BJP and AIADMK know they are about to lose in the upcoming election, he said, “Modi is using EC to tarnish the reputation of DMK. I call for reforms in Election Commission.”
