Mohan Bhagwat.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat, on Thursday, lamented that although India is not at war, soldiers are still dying as we are doing our duties halfheartedly.

While attending a function of marking the silver jubilee of the Prahaar Samaaj Jagruti Sanstha, in Nagpur, Bhagwat said the soldiers are dying because “we are not doing our job properly”.

He said, “At the time of Independence people had to sacrifice their lives for freedom, and after that on borders when there was a war, “(But) in our country there is no war (now), still people (soldiers) are getting killed ... because we are not doing our jobs properly.”

He also said one must “strive all the time” to make one’s country “great”.

He said, “Everybody has to strive (for the nation) ... this isn’t something which we can outsource. (We think) the government will do it (our job), the police will do it, the Army will do it … but it’s not like that. The entire society must make efforts.”
