Narendra Modi calls P Chidambaram a ‘family courtier’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hit back again at the Congress party while calling former Union finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram a ‘family courtier’. He said this while addressing an election rally in Chhattisgarh, on Sunday.
Modi said, “One of the family’s courtiers has come out with a list (of party presidents from outside the Nehru-Gandhi family).”
“The country knows that Sitaram Kesri, a dalit, was not allowed to complete his five-year term as Congress president. He was thrown out of office and onto the footpath to make way for Madam Sonia Gandhi as the new party chief,” he said.
Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, on Saturday, had responded to Modi on his remark of choosing a candidate as its president from outside the Nehru-Gandhi family. Chidambaram had listed 15 names of former Congress presidents.
