Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday, while speaking at the rally in Solapur, has demanded clarification from the Congress party citing media reports that has claimed that alleged middleman in AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam Christian Michel was lobbying for another contender who was the rival of French aircraft manufacturer Rafale.

He said, “Congress should answer which leader of their party, now shouting about this, (Rafale deal), has a connection with Michel,” adding, “The ‘chowkidar (watchman)’ can pick a wrongdoer even in darkness.”

While talking about introduction of 10 per cent reservation to the economic weaker sections of general category citizens in education and employment, Modi said it is a strong answer by Parliament for those spreading lies. He has further ensured that existing reservations for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and other backward classes will not be affected by the new amendment.

During the rally, he also spoke about the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 that supports provision of Indian citizenship to non-Muslim immigrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan. The prime minister said, “I want to assure the people of Assam and northeast that their rights will not be hurt after the passage of the bill.”
