During an election campaign, the Odisha chief minister and Biju Janata Dal president, Naveen Patnaik, on Wednesday, took a dig at the prime minister, Narendra Modi, and the Bharatiya Janata Party president, Amit Shah, without taking any names and said political leaders who did not visit Odisha during devastating natural calamities are now thronging the state for votes.

He came up with various questions for the BJP-led central government and said, “Where went the promised Sitalapalli railway wagon factory? special category status for the state? Women’s Reservation Bill? why were scholarships for students belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes of Odisha stopped? why peasants suffer without proper crop insurance while insurance companies are making profit at their cost? where went your promise of 10 crore jobs in five years?”

Then the chief minister sought to reassure the people of Odisha. He said, “I am always with you and will continue to remain with you.”
