Navjot Sidhu says Rahul Gandhi is his captain, raises eyebrows
Punjab minister and senior Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu tackled questions on his Pakistan visit despite his boss Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh’s objection, by saying that Rahul Gandhi is his captain.
Sidhu went to Pakistan on the occasion of the country’s event to lay the foundation stone for the Kartarpur Sahib corridor to enable Sikh pilgrims to visit the gurdwara directly without visa.
This raised eyebrows as Sidhu is a minister in Amarinder Singh’s cabinet and Punjab Congress workers didn’t like his remarks.
Sidhu, while speaking to reporters in Hyderabad, on Friday, said, “Mere captain Rahul Gandhi hain, unhone toh bheja hai har jagah (My captain is Rahul Gandhi, he has sent me everywhere),” while referring to Amarinder Singh’s objection.
However, Sidhu later tweeted saying Rahul Gandhi didn’t send him to Pakistan. He went there on the invitation of the Pakistani prime minister, Imran Khan.

Rahul Gandhi Ji never asked me to go to Pakistan.
The whole world knows I went on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s personal invite.
