‘Never named anybody, ED leaked the chargesheet’: Christian Michel to court in AgustaWestland case

Christian Michel James, an accused in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam, on Friday, told a Delhi court that he “never named anybody” during his interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate and the agency leaked the details of supplementary chargesheet to the media before sharing it with him.

On Thursday, while filing the fourth supplementary chargesheet in the kickback case in the AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter deal, the Enforcement Directorate, a Delhi special court that “kickbacks were paid to defence officials, bureaucrats, journalists and important political persons of the ruling party.”

Michel’s advocate Aljo K Joseph said, “He was asked by the investigating agency to give possible initials for people and that is all he did. He never named anybody in his statement before the agency, which is being leaked to the media.”

Special judge Arvind Kumar, on this information, issued notice to the ED and sought a response by Saturday.
