New Zealand mosque terror attack: Narendra Modi expresses ‘deep shock and sadness’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, expressed his “deep shock and sadness” over the New Zealand mosque terror attack. In the attack, on Friday, which was reportedly carried out by a white supremacist, 49 Muslims were killed during prayers at two mosques. It was the country’s worst-ever mass shooting.
Modi wrote a letter to the prime minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, in which he expressed India’s solidarity with the people of her country at this difficult time, and stressed India’s strong condemnation of terrorism and of all those who support such acts of violence.
The ministry of external affairs, in an official release, said: “The Prime Minister has expressed his deep shock and sadness at the loss of scores of innocent lives in the heinous terrorist attack at the places of worship in Christchurch.”
