Former finance minister P Chidambaram, who is facing probe in the INX Media case by both the ED and the CBI for alleged money laundering and is currently in jail, turned 74 on Monday.
On Chidambaram’s birthday, his son Karti, taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, tweeted: “You are turning 74 today and no 56!!! can stop you. Although you have never been one for grand celebrations, and nowadays in the country, we seem to be making grand celebrations out of every little thing; your birthday is not the same without you with us. We miss you, your absence tugs at our hearts, and we wish you were back home to cut a cake with all of us. [Sic.]”
Karti, who himself is facing probe in graft cases, further wrote: “But I have faith that you too will come out guns blazing against this elaborately staged political drama and for now, we all await that hard-fought glory of truth.”
It must be noted that during his Lok Sabha election campaign in 2014, BJP’s prime-ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had taunted the-then Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav by saying Yadav didn’t have the 56-inch chest (which Modi has), implying guts.
