Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on Monday, said she came out of the comfort of her family to join politics because India and its Constitution were “in danger”.

Priyanka Gandhi while launching another Lok Sabha election campaign in Pryagraj, she said, “No country can function like this. I could have also sat at home. I sat home for many years ... Why have I come out today? I came out because the country is in danger; our Constitution is under threat. Recognize this and wake up to it.”

She later slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for calling himself “chowkidar”. She said, “One farmer said something important to me. Farmers don’t have any chowkidar; only the rich have chowkidars. The farmers are their own chowkidars.”
