Pulwama attack: Navjot Singh Sidhu says nations can’t be held responsible for terrorists’ acts
Former cricketer and Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, on Friday, condemned the suicide bombing on the CRPF convoy in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama but said nations can’t be held responsible for acts of terrorists. The attack was carried by a jihadist belonging to Jaish-e-Muhammed – a terrorist organization that is based in Pakistan and operates with the blessings of the Pakistani military.
Sidhu said, “Nations cannot be held responsible for the base acts of terrorists. The terrorists don’t have any sect or religion … There are good, the bad and the ugly. Every institution has them. Every nation has them. The ugly need to be punished …”
Then he went on to absolve the Pakistani prime minister, Imran Khan, with who he shares a good rapport. Without naming Khan, Sidhu said, “… but individuals cannot be blamed for the dastardly act (or terrorists).”
Sidhu’s statement comes at a time when the Punjab chief minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, has called for a “befitting reply” to the perpetrators, without naming, but meaning Pakistan.
