Tweeting in Hindi with a video clip of the police lathicharge attached, Gandhi wrote: “Dictatorship has become a profession in the regime of Narendra Modi. Attacking the fundamental rights of Congress workers in Bilaspur by Raman Singh’s government will be remembered by the people there as political persecution.

On Tuesday, at least seven Congress workers were injured when the police in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur city beats them after they allegedly threw garbage inside a minister's house.

Bilaspur’s additional superintendent of police, Neeraj Chandrakar, claimed that Congress workers threw garbage inside the minister's house and beat some policemen, after which the case was registered against them.
