Rahul Gandhi says ‘Manohar Parrikar had nothing to do with new Rafale deal’
Congress president Rahul Gandhi, hours after a “personal visit” to the ailing Goa chief minister, Manohar Parrikar, at his office in Panaji, claimed that Parrikar had nothing to do with the “new deal” on Rafale fighter jets, and targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Parrikar, who is battling cancer now, was the defence minister when India signed the deal with France, in 2015.
Gandhi, while addressing Congress booth-level workers in Kochi, said, “Friends, ex-defence minister Mr Parrikar clearly stated that he has nothing to do with the new deal that was orchestrated by Mr Narendra Modi to benefit Anil Ambani.”
Gandhi, however, did not clarify whether the Rafale deal was discussed during his meet with Parrikar.
