Rahul Gandhi.

After the comptroller and auditor general presented its report on the Rafale deal in the Rajya Sabha, on Wednesday, the Congress president, Rahul Gandhi, has once again targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the deal. He alleged that the sole purpose of the new deal was to “give Anil Ambani ₹30,000 crore”. He said if there is no scam, then why was Modi shying away from ordering a JPC probe?

The Congress has been consistently demanding an investigation on the Rafale deal by a joint parliamentary committee.

After the CAG submitted the report, the Congress president held a news briefing. He said, “If there is no scam, then why are Modi afraid of ordering JPC investigation? Being an opposition leader, my job is to highlight the shortcomings of the government and I am doing the same.”

Gandhi further said that Narendra Modi is nervous and knows inside that somehow the Rafale case will reach its conclusion.

The CAG report claims that the NDA government’s Rafale deal was 2.86 per cent cheaper than what was negotiated by the UPA government.
