Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, on Friday, said that the Kerala government is committed and would uphold the Supreme Court’s verdict on Sabarimala Ayyappa temple allowing every age of women to enter the temple, but there are some forces who instigates devotees in order to gain some political capital and are trying to divide society.

In an interview with Indian Express, Vijayan said different parties were trying to manipulate public for some votes ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Vijayan said, “I have already made it clear. These forces have a long history of adopting such diabolical political games. Their only intention is to polarize society on communal lines. Even the abode of Ayyappa was used as a camp for anti-social elements and criminals.”

Vijayan said, “All the major formations, including the RSS and the Congress, were in support of women’s entry. The Congress also made it clear that they would uphold the Supreme Court verdict. The BJP and the Congress later made a volte-face and came out to ridicule the Supreme Court order claiming that the court had no jurisdiction over matter of rituals.”

He further said, “It is obvious that both the BJP and the RSS want political capital out of it and are instigating devotees. Their only intention is to polarize the society for a few votes.”
