Samajwadi Party’s Azam Khan says BJP treats him as ‘item girl’ ahead of every election

In the wake of the second FIR lodged against him in the same week, Samajwadi Party senior leader Azam Khan, on Wednesday, called himself an “item girl” of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said whenever elections approach, the BJP starts treating him like their “item girl”.

Khan alleged that the police complaint was filed by a pro-Ambedkar group for allegedly defaming the dalit icon two years ago.

While addressing an event in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun, Khan said, “They contest all the elections on my name. The last assembly election was fought on my name and the same is the case with the coming Lok Sabha elections.” He added, “The present state of affairs is such that I do not remember how many cases have been filed against me and where … I keep getting summons and warrants.”

Reacting to this, BJP has slammed Khan over his “item girl” remark. Uttar Pradesh BJP spokesman Chandramohan said, “Azam Khan has become mentally deranged. The days of politics of vote bank, appeasement and corruption, which he had been indulging in, are over.”
