Rahul Gandhi.

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday, said he was opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a cause.

While addressing a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh’s Sabalgarh, Gandhi said, “They say, Rahul Gandhi opposes Narendra Modi. I don’t. The day Narendra Modi starts helping farmers, poor, small traders and stops dividing India, I will not oppose him,” adding, “… but till the time the Prime Minister does not do justice to the nation’s poor, farmers, and labourers, let the rest of the country think what it will, I will continue to oppose him.”

Taking a dig at Modi’s “Mann ki Baat” radio programme, Gandhi said, “For 14 years, I have been in politics. Show me one instance where I have made a false promise. When I said farm loan will be waived, it was. I said MNREGA will be taken to the nook and corner of rural areas, it was. I went to Bhatta Parsaul, I said that land acquisition reforms will be made, and the bill was passed.”

Gandhi said he respects people, their problems are my concerns and I will not lie. Gandhi said, “You are my strength. I am not anything without you. I don't speak ‘Mann Ki Baat’. What is in my mind is not important, what is in the minds of the youth and farmers is important. What is the minds of mothers and sisters is important.”
