The United Arab Emirates ambassador to New Delhi, Dr Ahmed Abdul Rahman AlBanna, on Monday, claimed that his country played a major role in de-escalating the tension between India and Pakistan after the Pulwama suicide attack by the Pakistan-based terrorist outfit, Jaish-e-Muhammed, and India’s air strike on Jaish camp in Pakistan’s Balakot. The Indian air strike inside Pakistani territory was followed by Pakistan air force’s attempt to strike Indian military establishments in Kashmir.

While attending an event in IIT-Delhi, the ambassador said, “We have played an important role in reducing tension between India and Pakistan. On the day of the huge escalation, our crown prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan), had a telephonic conversation with the Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi, and the Pakistani prime minister, Imran Khan. Our role was to sort out differences between two sides in a peaceful manner through negotiations.”

This ambassador’s statement regarding the telephonic conversation between Modi and bin Zayed, is different from India’s statement.

However, the prince himself stated in a social media about his conversation with the Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan about the “recent events”.
