Uddhav Thackeray.

Uddhav Thackeray, the president of Shiv Sena, slammed the Maharashtra government, on Monday, saying that comment made by one of their ministers about giving home delivery of the liquor was “utter rubbish and ridiculous” and was “against any state’s culture”.

Shiv Sena is an ally of the BJP-led government in the state.

People of Marathwada region is reeling in drought. Don’t kill the drought-affected people just by making them to queue up for the aid. They all want delivery of aid and not of liquor,” Thackeray said.

The Maharashtra excise minister, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, had announced that government is looking forward for the allow online sale and liquor home delivery, but making a U-turn later, he said it was just a proposal and no decision has been taken so far.

Following a political outrage, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis also clarified that there was not any plan of allowing home delivery of liquor in the state.
