New Delhi: The chances of an alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress for the Lok Sabha election in Delhi has run into trouble with the Congress president, Rahul Gandhi, accusing the AAP leader, Arvind Kejriwal, of taking “yet another U-turn”, on Monday.

Gandhi tweeted saying an AAP-Congress alliance in Delhi would have routed the BJP in Delhi, but Kejriwal took a U-turn during talks.

Earlier on Friday, sources from both the parties had agreed to form an alliance for a joint fight against the Bharatiya Janata Party on Delhi’s seven Lok Sabha seats, with a three-point formula cementing the alliance. But, Congress was not ready to give AAP seats in Punjab, Chandigarh, and Haryana.

Following this, Kejriwal seemed to have softened his stance, on Saturday. While making a new offer during a news conference, AAP senior leader and Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said, “Modi-Shah combination is dangerous for the country and to prevent them from coming to power we decided to join anti-Modi forces.”

However, following Gandhi’s tweet, on Monday, Kejriwal, tweeting in Hindi, accused Gandhi of helping Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “What U-turn? The talks (between AAP and Congress) were still on, (but) your tweet shows that you just wish the alliance to happen. I am sorry to you are making rhetorical statements. Today, we need to save the country from the threat of the Modi and (BJP president Amit) Shah. Unfortunately, you are helping Modi by splitting the anti-Modi vote in UP and other states too
