New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on Wednesday, met the Bhim Army chief, Chandrashekhar Azad “Ravan”, who is admitted in a hospital after being detained by the Saharanpur Police for allegedly violating the model code of conduct in Deoband. The Uttar Pradesh Congress chief, Raj Babbar, accompanied Priyanka.

Speaking to the Congress general secretary, Azad said he will stand against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi if Modi is to contest from there. However, the BJP is yet to announce the seat Modi will contest from, but Azad asserted that he will fight against Modi from whichever seat he contests from.

Although the meeting sends out a clear signal that there is a political connotation, but Priyanka denied about the same.

Just a day before to this meeting the Bahujan Samaj Party chief, Mayawati, ruled out a tie-up with the Congress in any state. And just hours after the Priyanka and Chandrashekhar Azad meeting at the hospital, the Samajwadi Party president, Akhilesh Yadav, met Mayawati at her Lucknow residence to discuss the development.

However, the SP spokesman, Rajendra Chaudhary, waived off the connection to the Priyanka-Azad hospital meet, and said, the meeting held at Mayawati’s residence was to discuss the upcoming Lok Sabha election nothing else.

Right after meeting Azad, Priyanka slammed the BJP government and said: “This government has become so arrogant, it wants to crush a young man. It does not want to listen to his voice. Since they didn’t give employment, now when they are raising their voice, let them. What is the point of crushing that?”
