CJI Ranjan Gogoi.

After the woman complainant walked out of the inquiry because she felt like she was “not likely to get justice,” the in-house inquiry committee, comprising of Justices SA Bobde, Indu Malhotra and Indira Banerjee, extended a request to Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi to appear before it.

Responding to the request, CJI Gogoi, on Wednesday, appeared before the committee of three Supreme Court judges probing allegations of sexual harassment to present his side of the case.

In order to not make the in-house findings public, media citing sources reported that the committee will submit its report to the secretary general of the Supreme Court “in a sealed envelope”.

Although the complainant has withdrawn from the probe, the committee decided to move forward in her absence.

Sources also said that the secretary general of the Supreme Court also appeared with files, official records and internal reports pertaining to the matter of employment of the former employee and her harassment allegations.
