New Delhi: Dhananjay Munde, nephew of ex-minister Gopinath Munde and senior Nationalist Congress Party leader, has demanded a probe into the death of Gopinath Munde after a self-proclaimed hacker, identified as Syed Shuja, claimed that Gopinath Munde was murdered when he was tried to reveal some “facts”, as narrated by Shuja, about hacking of electronic voting machines in the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

Dhananjay Munde, who is also the leader of opposition in Maharashtra’s legislative council, has demanded investigation either by the RAW or a Supreme Court judge in the death of his uncle. Ex-minister Gopinath Munde had died in a road accident in New Delhi in 2014 soon after the 2019 Lok Sabha election results were out, and the Narendra Modi government was sworn in.

Dhananjay Munde tweeted: “A cyber expert has made a sensational claim that former Union Minister Late Gopinathrao Munde saheb was murdered. This claim needs immediate attention and investigation from RAW/Supreme Court, as it is directly linked to the death of mass leader. #EVMHacking.”

The NCP member alleged: “Everybody who followed Munde saheb’s leadership and loved him had raised questions about his death. After today’s revelation, the doubt has been addressed. If the claim of #EVMHacking is true, then it also violates the norms of the biggest democracy of the world [sic].” the NCP leader alleged.

Shuja has claimed, in an event organized by the India Journalists Association, that the EVMs had been hacked to benefit the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2014 Lok Sabha election. He has also claimed that former BJP minister Gopinath Munde and journalist Gauri Lankesh had been victims of the conspiracy. “They were murdered when they tried to reveal the truth,” he said.
