In Jharkhand’s Saraikela, at least 5 policemen killed in Maoist ambush

New Delhi: At least five policemen were killed when suspected Maoists attacked a police patrol party in an area under the Tiruldih police station in the Jharkhand- West Bengal border, on Friday evening. After killing the policemen, the Maoists fled with their weapons.

According to a police official, two assistant sub-inspectors and three constables came under attack when they were patrolling the area. Talking to reporters, Murari Lal Meena, an additional director general of Jharkhand Police, said the he Maoists surrounded the policemen and shot them dead.

In May, at least 15 policemen and a driver were killed in a Maoist attack in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district. Before that, in April, BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi and four security personnel were killed after Maoists attacked his convoy in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada.
