New Delhi: Political violence continues in West Bengal despite there is no election going on in the state. In the latest round of killings of political activists, an RSS volunteer and a BJP worker were found hanging on trees.

On Monday, a BJP worker Samatul Dolui’s body was found hanging from a tree near a field in Howrah’s Amta, just a day after Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh veteran Swadesh Manna’s body too was found hanging from a tree in Atchata village.

The Bharatiya Janata Party blamed the Trinamool Congress for the grisly murders.

BJP’s Howrah (rural) president Anupam Mullick said, “Dolui was active in BJP and gave the party a lead from his booth in the Lok Sabha polls. He had received death threats soon after he took out ‘Jai Sri Ram’ rallies in the locality. Trinamool-backed anti-socials ransacked his house immediately after polls.”

It is reported that some miscreants tried to snatch Dolui’s body when it was being taken for postmortem. Angry villagers then demanded the deployment of the Rapid Action Force.

RSS’s Swadesh Manna also used to lead “Jai Sri Ram” processions in his village. He was leading such processions in the last few days.

Mullick allegedly said, “In both cases, Trinamool supporters have killed our party workers.”

However, TMC MLA Pulak Roy denied his party men’s involvement and said, “BJP is trying to shame us. But none of our workers is linked to it.”

In another incident, TMC’s trade union workers thrashed two security personnel with iron rods in Sodepur. A case has been registered against six TMC men.
