Three-member Congress team to meet party dissidents in Telangana
New Delhi: A three-member team of Congress leaders comprising Puducherry chief minister Narayana Swamy, Karnataka irrigation minister DK Shiva Kumar and Puducherry health minister Malladi Krishna Rao has held talk with party leaders of Telangana who were denied tickets for the upcoming state assembly election and were planning to fight the poll as independent candidates.
The team, deputed by the central leadership of the Congress, has met the dissident leaders in the hotel in Hyderabad and tried to pursue the leaders not to contest as rebel candidates as they will be rewarded suitably once the party comes to power.
The team has urged the leaders to not get upset instead work for the victory of grand alliance headed by the Congress.
Out of 90 ticket aspirants identified by the state Congress leadership, 40 to 50 dissident leaders are likely to meet the committee in Hyderabad in the next two days. The committee is expected to convince the rebels.
Telangana is scheduled to hold assembly election on December 7. The Congress has announced 88 candidates so far and likely to announce six more candidates on Sunday.
