New Delhi: From questioning the Pulwama terror attack to making “political” statements against the Narendra Modi government on Facebook or WhatsApp, Uttar Pradesh’s Yogi Adityanath government suspended at least seven government schoolteachers.

According to media reports, in addition to the suspensions, a basic shiksha adhikari, a Group-A education service officer, has also been suspended. The government has also ordered an FIR against a private schoolteacher for allegedly violating the model code of conduct, which came into effect after the Lok Sabha poll dates were announced.

Prabhat Kumar, UP additional chief secretary, claimed a proper inquiry was conducted before the BSA was suspended and said, “I have no information about (the) teachers (suspended). BSAs of respective districts must have done this.”
