Kerala CPM leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on rape-accused son says ‘no one will protect him’

The leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, on Saturday, said nobody from his party will shield Binoy Kodiyeri, his elder son, who has been accused of rape.

While talking to reporters, Balakrishnan said, “Neither my party (CPM) nor I will protect Binoy (Kodiyeri). He is an adult. He stays as a separate family and is responsible for his actions.”

Balakrishnan has also denied the charges that his family contacted the woman on whose complaint the case was registered by Mumbai Police against Binoy.

A Mumbai-based woman, 33, who originally belongs to Bihar, filed a report in a Mumbai Police station alleging that Binoy sexually exploited her for several years on the promise of marriage and they also have a child. She said she entered a relationship with Binoy while working at a Dubai dance bar, in 2008. Their child, she says, is now eight.
