Coronavirus pandemic: Covid-19 rages in Maharashtra, Gujarat even as ‘no new case’ in 13 states, UTs

New Delhi: Maharashtra and Gujarat continue to reel under the new coronavirus, Covid-19, pandemic with both the states recording a large number of cases even on Thursday. Gujarat became the second state to record over 7,000 coronavirus cases after Maharashtra.

By Thursday, Gujarat recorded 7,012 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 425 deaths resulting from it. The hardest-hit districts are Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara with 4991, 799 and 440 cases respectively.

In Maharashtra, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases is now 16,758 and the death toll from the disease is 651.

Meanwhile, the Union health minister Harsh Vardhan, during a media interaction, said 13 states and Union territories have not recorded a single coronavirus-positive case, on Thursday. The 13 states and Union Territories which have not reported any new case in the last 24 hours are Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala, Ladakh,

Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Odisha.

It may be noted that Daman and Diu, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Lakshadweep have not reported a single case so far.

The number of Covid-19 cases in the country has crossed 56,000 and the death toll is now nearly 1,900. On Thursday, India recorded 3,364 new cases and 104 new deaths.

Meanwhile the global number of coronavirus cases is nearing 4 million and the death toll is now almost 270,000. More than 1.3 million people have recovered from the disease so far.
