New Delhi: Domestic passenger air services resumed on Monday after a gap of two months since the lockdown was imposed for the first time, on March 25, to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, Covid-19. All top airlines, including Air Asia, Air India, Indigo, and SpiceJet, ran 30 per cent of their flights after strictly following the coronavirus-prevention guidelines set by the civil aviation ministry.

Monday saw 532 flights operate carrying over 39,000 passengers.

However, airports witnessed chaotic scenes across the country as many flights were cancelled or rescheduled leaving the passengers confused, frustrated and angry. Passengers complained that they were not informed in advance of the cancellation of the flights.

As many as 82 flights, including arrivals and departures, were cancelled at the Delhi airport as some of the states requested the Centre to curtail services to meet their own guidelines. Similarly, flights were cancelled in almost all major airports that resumed operations and they all witnessed similar chaotic scenes involving passengers.
