KS Eshwarappa.

KS Eshwarappa, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader, made a controversial statement while addressing members of the Kuruba and minority communities in north Karnataka’s Koppal. He said his party will not field Muslim candidates in the state.

Eshwarappa said, “Congress uses you only as vote bank, doesn’t give you ticket. We won’t give tickets to Muslims in Karnataka. Why? Because you don’t believe in us. Believe us and we’ll give you tickets and other things.”

Karnataka will have a two-phase election for its 28 seats. Voting for the first 14 seats will be held on April 18 and the next 14 on April 23.
