Senior Congress leader and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijaya Singh, on Wednesday, asked for forgiveness for the “bhool” of 2003. Singh, who was defeated in the 2003 assembly poll, had angered government staff then alleging elections were won with “sound management” and “not with the help of state government employees”.

While attending the state employees’ Holi Milan Samaroh in Bhopal, on Wednesday evening, he asked for forgiveness saying, “Fifteen years have passed. It is time for Holi celebrations. Forgive me for any mistakes I have made,” adding, “… bhool, chook maaf (forgive [my] mistakes and omissions).”

Angered government employees were the major reason that led to Digvijaya’s defeat in 2003 election, which kickstarted the 15 years of Bharatiya Janata Party rule.
